God Uses Everything
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news” (Isaiah 52:7).
I just returned from a week with a WIM missionary family in Oaxaca, Mexico. They work with an indigenous group called the Mixe (pronounced MEE-hay). This particular group is divided into three areas: lowlands, midlands and highlands. The lowlands have only had access to the gospel (good news of Jesus) for about 30 years, and there are some churches established. There is also progress today in reaching the midland group. Unfortunately, the highland group remains very closed to the gospel.
This family went to the Mixe to do language translation work, but it appears that God has even more for them to do. “What?” you may ask. Blacksmithing! Our missionary taught himself how to do blacksmith work so he can teach the people a useful trade. Through his demonstrations he is able to share the good news in a visual way. Many people are responding to him and he believes his planned short-term stay may turn into something long-term.
God amazes me when He can use giftings and talents from ordinary people who point to Him. The message (good news) never changes but our methods of presentation are limitless. Many missionaries around the world use creativity to present the gospel to their target people. Are you allowing God to use you creatively to present the good news?
