WIM Welcomes New Director of Operations & New Board Directors
October 2008 WIM hosted its bi-annual Board of Directors meeting. There, Jim Johnson stepped down as a member of the Board and was replaced by his son-in-law, Jonny Rodgers of St. Mary's, Georgia. Chris Briles, member of WIM and recent transplant from Mexico to New Braunfels, was also added as a member of the Board.
Beginning January 2009 Steve Smith will officially step down as WIM's Director of Operations. He hands the office to Chris Briles, who has worked in Altotonga, Mexico, for nine years with his family.
Chris has a background in engineering and his wife, Vonda, was a pharmacist before they joined WIM and moved to Mexico. The Briles have three children, Aaron, Jessica and Carmen. The Briles worked with teenagers in Altotonga, taking them on mission trips and discipling them.
Steve, while no longer part of our staff, remains in the organization with his wife, Marianne. Marianne was the Director of Mission Service Teams and Director of Training but has, during 2008, turned the leadership of MST over to Grace Spell and the task of Training to Andrew Toth. The Smiths have launched their own ministry of economic improvement and reconciliation in areas of conflict overseas. The WIM staff thanks them for their years of dedicated work at international headquarters and wishes them all the best for the future.
